This is the circular to inform you that the 15th CODATA Task Group Meeting on the Sharing Data Resources for Research, Science and Technology in Asian-Oceanic Countries will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia during 20 – 21st July 2004. Enclosed please find the announcement and registration form. Please feel free to inform of these materials and pass them to your colleagues who might have interest in attending this meeting. It is our great pleasure to have this opportunity to host you and your colleagues in the 15h CODATA/DSAO meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Organizing Committee is able to support living expenses for the committee members of CODATA/DSAO during the meeting. However, each committee member is responsible for all travel expenses from his/her country to Indonesia and vice versa.
CALL FOR PAPERS(For the committee members of CODATA/DSAO only)
The CODATA (Committee on Data for Science and Technology) Task Group on Data Sources in Asian – Oceanic Countries (DSAO) has provided data experts in Asian-Oceanic countries with an organization that encourages and facilities regional knowledge sharing and co-operation in many areas of scientific and technical data.
The objectives of CODATA/DSAO are promoting and enhancing the development of reliable data/databases in Asian-Oceanic region. The main theme of this year workshop is “Sharing Data Resources for Research, Science and Technology in Asian-Oceanic Countries”. We seek original papers in the broad fields of theory and technology of information processing and data handling on the data sharing of Asian-Oceanic countries, and other topics on factual data in various fields.
Contributed papers are currently being solicited in the following areas:
1. Methodologies and Application of Metadata
2. Data Visualization
3. Biological Science Data including Biodiversity, Bioinformatics and Proteomics
4. Geological Data - Earthquake, Mine etc
5. Metrology Data
6. Other related Factual Data (Bio-hazardous Material, Infrastructure Protection etc)
Papers for oral presentation in other specified topics are welcomed. Contributors should indicate the title(s) of the paper(s) and the corresponding field in the registration form. Abstracts should be received by the Organizing Committee not latter than 15 June 2004. Full papers should be submitted in electronic form by end of June 2004.
Abstracts should be no longer than 400 words in English and should include the title of the paper, the name(s) of the author(s), address(s) of the author(s) and keyword(s). All abstract should be concise and informative. All abstracts should be written in single spaced using 12 points Times New Roman font on an A4-sized paper with a 3 cm margin on all sides. Abstracts using Microsoft Word (Windows) should be sent as an e-mail attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org or submitted in a 3.5 inches floppy disc or you can fill the abstract directly at online registration form below.
