Currency

The official currency in Indonesia is Rupiah.The currency code for Rupiahs is IDR and the currency symbol is Rp.

Language

The official language for the conference is English.

Electricity

In Indonesia, electricity is supplied in 220 - 240 Volts, 50 Hz.
The electrical outlet has two round holes, similar to those in continental Europe.

VISA

All travelers to Indonesia must be in possession of a passport that is valid for at least six months from the date of arrival, and have proof (tickets) of onward or return passage. The Indonesian Government extends Visa on Arrival (VoA) to nationals of 63 countries which can be obtained at designated entry airports and sea ports. Free Tourist Visa

Free Tourist short stay visas for 30 days are extended to tourists from 12 countries, namely from Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, Chile, Equador, Morocco and Peru.

Participants are required to have a valid passport (at least for 6 months) with a valid Indonesian visa to enter Indonesia. Please kindly contact the nearest Embassies/Consulate General/Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia in your respective countries of residence to obtain the entry visa.

Health Certificate Requirements

International health certificates for smallpox and cholera are not required. Evidence of valid yellow fever vaccinations are only required from travelers coming from infected areas.

Customs Regulations

Carrying narcotic drugs, arms and ammunitions are strictly prohibited. Offenders are subjected to strict and severe punishment. Advance approval has to be acquired for bringing in transceivers.

Foreign Exchange and Banking Facilities

The Indonesian currency is called the Rupiah (Rp). The exchange rate fluctuates and is currently around Rp. 12,000 to US $ 1.00 as of February 2014. Money or travelerís check can be exchanged at any authorized local banks or Money Changers. Banking hours are from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm Mondays to Fridays. Banks in hotels usually stay open longer hours while Money Changers are generally open every day until late evening. Cash advances on Visa and Master Card can also be made through many ATMs, which display the relevant symbols.

Time, Weather and Dress

Yogyakarta time is 7 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.

The weather in Yogyakarta is moderately hot with high humidity. The temperature can be around 30 C during daytime, and 25 C at night.

Light clothing is advisable due to the hot and humid climate. However, a jacket and tie are required for formal occasions and when making official calls. Batik shirt or national dress is acceptable for evening occasions. Very casual attire such as shorts and halter-tops is not considered appropriate except in sports facilities and on the beach.

Insurance

The committee will not be responsible for personal accidents and damage to the private property of participants. It is highly advisable for participants to make their own arrangements with respect to personal insurance.

Payment of Hotel Accounts

Before departure from the hotel, participants are expected to make direct settlement with the hotel for all accounts, including room charges, local and long distance calls, laundry and valet, telex, cable and facsimile, restaurant, bar and room service charges. Participants are also responsible for any charges incurred with respect to rooms remaining vacant due to late arrival or early departure, or charges in travel arrangements of which inadequate notice has been given.

Car Rental / Taxi

Rented cars are available, however if participants prefer to use taxi services, it is recommended to utilize the hotelís taxi service.

Telecommunications

Local and international direct dial telephone and facsimile service as well as pc/printer internet and e-mail access is located at the 24 hour Business Center and Services. Cell phones using GSM system (tri-band) are operational in Yogyakarta.

Gratuities

It is customary to tip porters and hotel personnel service. However tipping is not encouraged in most hotels and restaurants if a service charge is already included.

Business and Shopping Hours

Office and business are generally open from 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday through Friday. Shops are generally open from 10.00am to 9.00pm daily.
